STUDIO MUSEUM ACHILLE CASTIGLIONI
The Studio Museum
Since January 2006, the studio museum "Achille Castiglioni", thanks to an
agreement with the "Triennale di Milano", is open to the public and at the same
time, proceeds with archiving and intensive work.
The programme consists in listing, ordination, archiving, systemize the projects, the drawings, the pictures, the models, the films, the conferences, the objects, the books, the magazines, basically the whole world in which Achille Castiglioni has worked in for more than 60 years of activity, at first with his brother, Pier Giacomo, then since 1968, on his own. This work is still held by the two long time collaborators of the studio that have been working by Achille Castiglioni's side over the past 20 years, Antonella Gornati and Dianella Gobbato.
To preserve all of this heritage in a modern way, means to catalogue it, to make it available and usable to a large public.
At the same time, the studio is open to the visitors from Tuesday to Saturday (from 10 am till 1 pm) and manages guided tours.
The guided tours are usually managed by the wife and the daughter of Achille Castiglioni, Irma and Giovanna.
This activity is becoming very demanding although very important because it allows us to share the way of thinking, teaching and working of Achille Castiglioni.
During the visit, four rooms of the studio are shown around: the room where the models and the prototypes are kept, the room used for the drafting machines and a few curiosities, the place where we can see anonymous or daily objects that Achille Castiglioni had collected during his lifetime and that he brought with him during the lessons he gave at the Politecnico, to talk about important design themes. And the last room is the "architect's room" where many design objects stand to embrace a long period of time.

The Triennale Design Museum ticket provides entry to the Studio Museum Achille Castiglioni up to 20 people may enter for the hourly tour.
Entrance ticket (8 euros per person) may be bought at the Triennale box office (10.30 am - 7.30 pm, Tuesday-Sunday) or on the website www.ticketone.it.
The Triennale Design Museum ticket: unlimited validity for Studio Museum Achille Castiglioni, but valid only the day of purchase for the Triennale Design Museum.
Booking admission is suggested.
Entry at 10.00, 11.00 and 12.00 am with a free guided tour (60 minutes).
Opening hours: Tuesday - Saturday, 10 am - 1 pm
School and groups must book the tour.
