Radiofonografo stereofonico

1965 Design: Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni

1965, re-edition 2008 Production: Brionvega, Brionvega/Sim2

The RR126 model came out as stereo hi-fi set. Conceived as a portable modular object with separable pieces, it provided stereo and high fi acoustics which at the time were quite innovative. The support for the central body is in fusion of anodized aluminium and is composed of four casters which make the set easily movable. The loudspeakers can be positioned in three ways: both resting on the central block to make a compact cube and take up less space; hooked on to the two sides to form a parallelepiped; and finally, they loudspeakers can be placed at various distances using the long extension cords available.

Today, just as before, expert artisans construct the wooden piece and loudspeakers. Always splendid and unique, they are never identical, never “perfect”, exactly because they are not mass produced. Just as unique are the pedestal, obtained with a fusion in brushed aluminium, the polishing and all the lacquering.

The new Brionvega Radiofonografo is faithful to the original in all the details; in fact, it still has a record player for listening to vinyl records, but it is made with modern technology that greatly enhances its performance.
