Tableware

1997 Design: Achille Castiglioni

1997 Production: Alessi

In this service made of decorated, white porcelain, the formal characteristic is evidenced in the circular shapes; the sizes were chosen from normal and traditional production for domestic and hotel use.

Bavero is proposed in table, coffee and tea services.

The table service is composed of a flat plate, a bowl, a soup plate (a cross between a bowl and a flat plate, especially useful for certain first courses in the Lombard cuisine), fruit plates, oval second course plates and a soup tureen. The dishes are thick and sturdy. The design of around the lip identifies the entire series: wide and with an internal border in relief that prevents the fingers from touching the food when serving the plate.

The slightly bell-shaped coffee cup followed traditional models, while the distinctive feature of the tea cup and teapot was the handle. The teapot, coffeepot and milk pitcher all have the same handle (a simple section of a circle); this same easy to grasp ring is also on all the cup handles and pot lids.
